Water Tower Drive

Water Tower Drive was one of our most exciting projects to date.

The site of this development was located in the vibrant and regenerated town of Prescot (home to the recently opened £20m replica Shakespearean theatre ~ The Shakespeare North Playhouse).

Purchased from United Utilities, this former fully functioning Water Tower, Keeper’s Cottage and associated outbuildings had sadly become derelict and resulted in what had become an eyesore at a main gateway into the towns of Prescot and neighbouring St Helens.

Alphabet Homes sympathetically restored the Keeper’s Cottage, complete with its original stone features, gothic style windows and slate roof and incorporated a contemporary extension to create a light filled kitchen and family room, complete with wide bi folding aluminium doors leading to a wonderful extensive walled garden.

The site had within it a WW2 Air Raid shelter which was subject to archaeological oversight and reporting during the development.

The Water Tower itself benefitted from a complete re-modelling which included the restoration of existing steel windows, the introduction of aluminum openings, and the complete restoration and reconfiguring of the Water Tank to create a top floor Master Bedroom with en suite and sliding windows, to enable the enjoyment of panoramic views.

The seven new build family homes were architecturally designed to blend with the original features of both the Tower and the Cottage.

The development has transformed the site and has been widely acclaimed by residents in the area and professionals within the Local Authority.
